Leveraging Figma’s AI tools for discovery and bilingual research

In the early stages of discovery and research, a designer can feel limited without access to a working prototype. Thankfully, due to Figma’s AI tools, it is easier than ever to quickly put together working prototypes for early research on a brand new product.

Over the next month, I will be conducting usability testing with a working, bilingual homepage prototype that I created in a single day. (Click the link to view the Figma prototype now.) My testing will answer the following questions:

  1. What services do participants expect they can access online from viewing the homepage?
  2. Do participants understand and remember what “pre-need insurance” after purchasing it from a funeral home?
  3. Do participants have any brand recognition of Homesteaders Life Company when they own a policy from us or do they only associate their pre-need insurance policy with the funeral home, agent, or agency they purchased from?
  4. What language, design elements, or functionalities are confusing to participants?
  5. How do participants want to access customer service assistance from starting on the homepage? How do they weigh accessing customer service assistance through a website versus through other mediums (call, email, etc.)?

Answering these research questions will allow me to iterate on the homepage and continue to build out a multi-page working prototype for further research before development work even begins.

During the process, I’m also evaluating the Figma AI tooling to find new ways to speed up my other design work.
